In a pretty even football game, the Hamilton Broncs played tough against Class A Columbia Falls Friday evening at Haynes Field, but they fell short 23-20. The hot evening temperatures led to quite a few cramps for the high school players in the early season game.

Columbia Falls went out to an early lead, scoring twice in the first quarter, leading the Broncs 13 to 0. In the second quarter, Hamilton scored a touchdown and Columbia Falls had a field goal with the score Columbia Falls 16 and Hamilton 7 at the half.

The second half saw the Broncs take the lead 20 to 16, but the Wildcats came back and led 23-20 through the final minutes of the game for the win.

Next week, Hamilton hosts Browning in Class A football.
