It's become a Halloween tradition.

Each year, the Bitterroot Aquatic Center in Hamilton shuts down its regular water aerobics classes in the indoor pool and transforms the building into a Halloween destination.

The "Haunted Swamp" will only be open the weekend before Halloween - October 25, 26, and 27. But the chills and thrills will remain with you all year long. The organizers of the event pick a different theme each year - such as pirates or the end of the world.

This year, the attraction will be a bit larger as it ventures outside the main building to increase the number of scares and surprises. Everything from spiders to aliens are going to populate the corridors and the experience is always different each year. And, don't worry; you and your group of friends won't be dropped into the water at any time. But you will get your adrenalin fix for the month.

The Haunted Swamp is not recommended for children under 12. The admission is $7 at the door, and the swamp will be accepting victims...er...customers:

  • Thursday Oct 25 - 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday Oct 26 - 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Saturday Oct 27 - 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • The profits go toward the purchase of the water slides at the Bitterroot Aquatic Center. The swamp will be bubblin' at 59 Kurtz Lane in Hamilton, across the street from Hamilton High School. For information call (406) 375-8200.
