Glacier Park Road Honored Nationally as One of Ten Best

These kinds of acknowledgements don't surprise Montanans too much, but it's still cool. Even though it's getting settled down for its long winter nap, Montana's and Glacier National Park's Going-to-the-Sun Road has been selected as one of the 10 most picturesque country drives in America by Country---the magazine for those who love the countryside. The magazine's November Extra issue lists their "2013 Best Scenic Roads" with a 32-page section highlighting America's most magnificent byways. The magazine describes Going-to-the-Sun Road as, "Seeming like touring a real life version of Jurassic Park, but without the dinosaurs. It's that scary, exhilarating and breathtaking. If the steep, narrow hairpin turns above intimidating guardrail-free drop-offs don't take your breath away, the northwest Montana vistas along the scenic roads will."

Other roads to make Country Magazines list include the Oregon Coast Highway, Doors County Coastal Highway in Wisconsin, Utah's Red Rock Country Scenic Byway, Natchez Trace Parkway in Mississippi and Blue Grass Valley Road in Virginia. But I'll bet none of them have dinosaurs driving the tour buses (or whatever the magazine said). Congrats, Glacier!!! DB
