The 4 year-old child who drowned in a Seeley Lake pond on Thursday afternoon has been identified as ElyJah Jerryn James. Sheriff's Department Captain Josh Clark says the cause of death was drowning, and the manner of death was ruled as accidental.

The Missoula County Sheriiff's office is reporting that a 4-year-old boy was found unconscious in a pond near Seeley lake shortly after 6 p.m. on January 24.

The incident occurred near Boy Scout Road, and emergency responders were sent to the scene. However, despite valiant life-saving efforts, the child was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival at Community hospital.

According to Captain Josh Clark of the Missoula County Sheriff's office, the boy lived near the pond where the incident occurred. It is still unclear if the child fell through the ice or simply fell into an area where the water was exposed.
