Don't let the cold weather and snow keep you from getting outdoors and enjoying the beautiful place we get to call home. Missoula is special in so many ways, especially if you love to exercise outdoors.

I just recently got up enough courage to start running outside during the winter. And let me tell ya, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself. Sure the cold air can be a little too refreshing at times, but the beautiful Missoula scenery and fresh air is enough to rejuvenate your day!

One of my favorite Missoula runs to do, especially in the winter, is the Rave Run. It's actually a relatively flat route, but the views are next level! This trail is pretty popular in the running community and was featured on Runner's World a couple weeks ago! Here's what they said about it:

The Experience
Among the gorgeous selection of nearby protected lands, the Ridgeline Trail on Waterworks Hill is a local favorite. Starting at the Orange Street Trail-head, the fairly level terrain is ideal for leisurely runs. “The footing is not particularly challenging and offers some rolling hills,” Boughner says. “Much different from most of the steep, long climbs around town.”

Stopping Point
A mere 15,000 years ago, the valley Missoula sits in was covered by 2,000 feet of water. As you work up the hill, look at the surrounding mountains to see the rings of ancient water marks.

So if you've been trying to gather up your courage and step up your running game this winter, the Rave Run is the perfect place to start!
