Benfield Pet Hospitals just wrapped up a study on states where catsand dogs live the longest life. Here's the outcome of the research...

Here are the 5 states America where dogs live longer: 

1.  South Dakota:  12.4 year life expectancy.

2.  Montana:  12.4 years.

3.  Oregon:  11.4 years.

4.  New Mexico:  11.4 years.

5.  Colorado:  11.4 years.

And here is where dogs have the shortest life span.  Keep in mind, many of these starts are located in the south where it's much hotter, which usually indicates that pets tend to hang out in open air conditions..which means they are likely to be exposed to the elements of heat and parasites.

1.  Mississippi:  10.1 years.

2.  Alabama:  10.2 years.

3.  Louisiana:  10.4 years.

4.  Delaware:  10.5 years.

5.  Massachusetts:  10.6 years.

Here are the five states where CATS live longest:

1.  Montana:  14.3 years.

2.  Colorado:  13.2 years.

3.  Rhode Island:  13 years.

4.  Illinois:  12.8 years.

5.  Nebraska:  12.8 years.

And here are the five states where cats die SOONEST: 

1.  Delaware:  10.7 years.

2.  Ohio:  10.9 years.

3.  Louisiana:  11 years.

4.  Kentucky:  11.1 years.

5.  Mississippi:  11.1 years.
