The best thing that happened at Missoula County Public Schools today was...nothing.

Executive Regional Director Karen Allen says Friday was a normal day at Missoula Public Schools, despite the fact that internet rumors went viral about various threats, so much so, that Superintendent Dr. Alex Apostle told parents on KGVO radio Friday morning it was alright to keep their children at home.

Allen says at all three high schools, there were uniformed officers present, although the most excitement they encountered was two Christmas concerts. Allen says the police presence began on Monday, in response to the school shootings in Newtown, Connecticut.

She said being prepared for any contingency meant students, teachers and parents were more relaxed. The schools are on Christmas break until after the new year.
