The Missoula County Sheriff’s Departments partnership with Crime Stoppers and the Can You ID Me program proves valuable once again.

Missoula County Sheriff's spokesman Jason Johnson says on October 26th  a Missoula man (age 21) called the Sheriff’s Office to inform us that he was the man pictured in a Crime Stoppers poster.

The Can You ID Me poster was released just the day before on October 25th and called upon the community’s help to identify the suspect in an alleged sexual assault case that started at Boomers Lounge and ended with an assault somewhere near Blue Mountain Road.

The male suspect called the Crime Stoppers tip line and agreed to meet with Sheriff's Department deputies who gathered his information and arranged for him to come to the Sheriff’s Office for an interview with detectives.  Prior to the interview taking place, the suspect retained an attorney who advised him not to speak with law enforcement.  The victim in this case positively identified the man on bar surveillance footage as the man who assaulted her and the suspect's appearance is an exact match to the man seen on the footage.  This case will now be forwarded to the Missoula County Attorney’s Office for review and possible charges.
