49 year-old Kevin Frost is in the Ravalli County Jail after appearing in justice court on Thursday, charged with aggravated kidnapping in the early morning abduction of his estranged wife.

Ravalli County Attorney Bill Fulbright said Sherri Frost's terrifying ordeal began early Tuesday morning.

"Apparently, Mr. Frost laid in wait for his estranged wife as she was on her way to work, and ended up forcibly kidnapping her," Fulbright said. "He first used her vehicle and then drove to a secluded spot where he used another vehicle and then drove off with her. The actual kidnapping was witnessed at a distance, so it was reported right away."

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman issued a Missing or Endangered persons Alert for Sherri Frost, and a search was instituted by several agencies, including Two Bear Air from Whitefish.

NBC Montana reports that Frost assaulted his wife, hid her in a barn and forced her to drink alcohol. He then dropped her off at the local hospital and turned himself in.

"Eventually, Mr. Frost turned up at the sheriff's office and surrendered," Fulbright said. "Deputy County Attorney Angela Wetzseon asked for $1 million bail, but his bail was set at $500,000. If he posts bond, GPS monitoring will be required."

Frost may have no contact with the victim or the couple's 16 year-old son. He will appear in district court in three weeks.
