A 10 year-old boy was killed on Saturday afternoon near Corvallis after being involved in an all-terrain vehicle accident.

Ravalli County Sheriff Chris Hoffman said that the report was called in to the 9-1-1 center from a home in a remote location at the base of the Sapphire Mountains. .

"Our emergency units responded to a home in the 2800 block of Soft Rock Road," Hoffman said. "This address is located pretty far back in east of Corvallis in the foothills of the Sapphire Mountains. When emergency responders arrived, they found a 10 year-old Corvallis youth had been involved in what appeared to be an ATV roll-over accident, and was dead at the scene."

Hoffman said the investigation into the fatal accident is continuing, and that no one else was injured in the incident. He said due to the remote location of the accident, it took emergency responders an extended amount of time to reach the scene.

"The accident occurred on private property, so the Ravalli County Sheriff's Office is investigating, and we are withholding the name of the victim pending notification of his next-of-kin," Hoffman said.

Hoffman said more details will be released after the investigation has been concluded.
