Coke’s Amazing Parent Commercial
I’ve never seen a commercial that perfectly describes parenthood like this one does. In a short 60 seconds it manages to capture the essence of daily life for parents. Somehow it manages to embody the joys, frustrations, sleeplessness, clutter, pain, dog-food eating and chaos that is parenting.
It shows the elation of finding out you’re pregnant, and then contrasts that with a sleepless baby. It shows the pain of stepping on a toy in the middle of the night, and the ease of a nice jog in the park without having to haul around a giant diaper bag and a purse along with pushing a stroller.
The dinner table ending up on the floor thanks to a curious child’s tug on the tablecloth, and a quick dog food snack are things most parents can identify with. A frustrated father trying to catch up on his work at home, but having more success at being a toddler’s jungle gym is part of everyday life for a parent.
You would think that with all the trouble a child appears to be, and how much they change your life, that the last thing any parent would want is another child. However, the end of this video depicts perfectly how parents feel when they find out they are going to have another child and go through all of this again.
