You’d think that Jake Gyllenhaal would be scared off of video game adaptations for good after the disaster that was Prince of Persia, but the actor is giving it another go with a new film based on Tom Clancy’s The Division. He may have a little help from another acclaimed actor, as Jessica Chastain is reportedly in talks to join the upcoming project, which Gyllenhaal is also producing.

THR reports that Chastain is eyeing a lead role opposite Gyllenhaal in The Division, an adaptation of the hit Ubisoft title that the studio will produce themselves via Ubisoft Motion Pictures. The Tom Clancy game takes place in New York and follows an agent of the Strategic Homeland Division (hence the title), who is searching for the cause of the deadly smallpox outbreak that transformed the city into a dystopia.

It’s Ubisoft’s best-selling game of all time, and with the company now backing their own film adaptations, a movie based on The Division seems like the next logical step. Ubisoft is also behind director Justin Kurzel’s upcoming adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, starring Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard — and with prestige talent like that (and a pretty solid trailer), we may very well be on the verge of a new era in video game movies; as in, they might finally be good.
