TXTING KILLS MONTANA Visits Arlee HS

Another one of our life-saving events took place out at Arlee High School where nearly the entire school attended our TXTING KILLS MONTANA presentation.

Texting has been proven to endanger drivers up to eight times more than alcohol.  We would like to come to your school or business to present our  ½ hour program that we hope will deeply and significantly change lives and better our community.

Following our brief presentation today we were so pleased to see that every student signed the "No Texting While Driving" pledge and sported one of those trendy TXTING KILLS thumb bands proudly as a reminder each time they reached for the phone when behind the wheel!

High School Students, Listen Up! We Have a Life Saving Message For You. [VIDEO]

Dear Missoula area students, faculty members, and principals,

107.5 Zoo FM so very much wants to be a part of your next pep rally or all school function.

We are on a mission to let everyone in Missoula know about a deadly epidemic that is sweeping our state. It's texting and driving. Not a month goes by where we don't hear about a car crash in the state that could have easily been avoided if the phone was left in their purse or passenger seat. We want to raise awareness and help save lives by issuing nearly 8,000 “TXTING KILLS” thumb bands to area residents, because we all live and raise our families here..and we are all affected. It’s a simple message on a small silicone band with a purpose of sending a clear message: “Texting While Driving Can Cost You Your Life”

Our presentation won't take long. In fact, it can easily be made part of an existing rally that you already have scheduled. We will make it fun and interactive and we certainly won't bore you with statistics and drawn out speeches. In fact, here's the video that we intend to show at the event. Mind you, the images are very shocking and might scare anyone straight. However, it does send the clearest message possible and it needs to seen:

I Signed The “TXTING KILLS” Pledge [VIDEO]

Last week I signed the Zoo FM's "TXTNG KILLS" Pledge. I'll be the first one to admit that I'm one of the biggest offenders of this deadly action. Over the past 7 days I've tried very hard to ignore the constant buzzing in the car seat next to me, and yet I have to keep reminding myself of the dangers. My boss at the station brought up an interesting fact: if you are driving down the freeway and look down to check your messages for only a second you travel the length of a football field! I can only imagine what can go wrong in that long of a distance.

One other eye opening realization came from when I was presented with this shocking video of the disasters that can come from texting while driving. Mind you, this video is more shocking than most Hollywood horror movies. The images are graphic and the scenarios are all too real. If anything will scare you straight it's this short movie.

Still Texting and Driving In Missoula? Here’s Some Safe Alternatives.

Even though the Missoula "no texting while driving" law has been in effect since July of 2009, frankly it's making our roads even more dangerous than ever before. Problem is, when that phone starts buzzing in the passenger seat, the temptation is just to great. We HAVE to see who is texting. Even if we are in bumper to bumper traffic on Reserve street we are replying to that person on your lap, hiding the phone from any on-lookers. This here seems to be the cause for more accidents than ever before in our city.

According to KGVO News Talk Senator Anders Blewett says texting while driving is more dangerous than driving under the influence. Scary, huh? As a result, the Montana Senate has voted down a bill making it a crime to text while driving.

It took me a few stupid close calls for me to realize that answering a text in traffic isn't nearly as important as coming home in one piece to my family. This is why I recently signed the Zoo FM "TXTNG KILLS" campaign and am proudly wearing the reminding thumb band that I received after signing this life saving promise. In the coming weeks I'll be showing our listeners how to sign the pledge as well. Stay tuned.

That's is also one of the reasons why I researched a few options of being able to multi-task on the road while still keeping your eyes on it. Here's what I found:
