According to the father of cancer victim Cashy Hyde, Mike Hyde reported that his cancer research organization was "scammed" out of $1300 from an internet fundraiser and claims the volunteer allegedly utilized an email account to reach out to supporters.

According to Hyde:

Hiedi Handford has scammed the foundation and Cashy's supporters with a Indigo fundraiser last fall. Hiedi pocketed the money raised and told us she wasn't funded. As well Hiedi Handford has opened a gmail account under Cashy's name of Cashyslaw@gmail.com.
Hiedi Handford has no affiliation with Cash Hyde foundation. It you donated to the indigo fundraiser you were ripped off.

Since the accusation, Hiedi has issued a rebuttal insisting that she in no way is guilty of such actions:

As Mike mentioned, I am not funded for the work I do on behalf of patients in Montana and across the country. The incident in question, the fall 2012 Indigo fundraiser, was a $5500 online fundraising campaign for the Foundation. The $5500 goal included a $1500 reimbursement to me for money I had already spent working on behalf of Cashy and the Foundation. The fundraiser netted 1325.00 which I kept as reimbursement for my expenses. Mike and the Foundation Director know this to be true. We had made arrangements well in advance of the fundraiser, and my work efforts. We had a verbal contract.

Further investigations reveal that Handford blacklisted by various other Montana special-interest groups after allegedly being blamed for deceptive etiquette involving money handling of her Montana Connect magazine advertisements.

Since the accusations were made public, social media outlets have lit up with supporters on both sides, as well as fundraising attempts to recoup the lost money.
