Local Native American women have organized a candlelight vigil this Saturday, January 19th to bring awareness and education to the public in regard to the growing number of missing and murdered Indigenous women in Montana, and around the country.

The gathering will take place from noon to 2 p.m. in front of main hall at the U of M and everyone is invited to attend. Speakers will include the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Children Data Institute, MMIW Victim's families, a Human Trafficking Investigator of Missoula, domestic violence organizations, YWCA, Missoula Indian Education Department, ACLU Montana, an Indigenous Rights Attorney from Montana Parole Board, Montana tribal leaders and more.

If you're not aware of this growing epidemic, I encourage you to watch this short film, it will break your heart. We cannot allow the murder and abuse of Indian women to continue to be the norm in this country. Please join us on Saturday to learn how we can be proactive in the fight for MMIW.
