Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks' “Becoming an Outdoors Woman” program is sponsoring a snowshoe workshop on Saturday, January 24 in Thompson Falls!

"This is really for people who have no experience snowshoeing, or maybe just a little bit," FWP spokeswoman Vivica Crowser said. "The day is split into two sections. There's morning class from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for those who have little or no snowshoeing experience. There is also an afternoon class that starts at 11:30 a.m. and runs until 4:30 p.m. for those that want to take a longer walk and get a little more experience."

Although not limited to just women, Crowser said the program will take 25 to 30 people.

"There's a fee of $20 which includes the activity and the lunch and also the use of snowshoes, so you don't have to have your own equipment," Crowser said. "The thing to do is to call the coordinator, Nancy Fields, at (949) 412-8561. You can also call the person who is helping Nancy, her name is Jolene, at (406) 826-2606 to register."

“If you can walk, you can snowshoe,” FWP’s Becoming an Outdoors Woman coordinator Liz Lodman said. "This class will provide an opportunity to use snowshoes wile exploring the surrounding forest."
