If the Women's Big Sky Conference named an all-infirmary basketball team, the Montana Lady Griz would probably dominate the starting five!

If was officially announced Monday that junior guard Taylor Goligoski of Hamilton will miss the remainder of the 2018-19 basketball season. Taylor has an osteochondral lesion in her left leg: a dime-sized piece of cartilage at the end of a bone near her knee that is damaged and needs to be repaired. After surgery, Taylor will have a three to four month recovery period.

Taylor led the Lady Griz in scoring her freshman year. Following an early-season injury last season, she started the final 22 games as a sophomore and was seeing about 22 minutes per game this season. She is now another Lady Griz standout that will miss the rest of this season due to injuries. And all have seen or would have seen plenty of time as starters. Junior Madi Schoening (foot injury) and sophomore Sophia Stiles (knee) are out for the season. Freshman Katie Mayhew, who is nursing an ankle injury, is expected to return to the team soon. And Junior McKenzie Johnston continues to play nearly the entirety of every game, despite having to wear a vision-inhibiting mask to protect her broken nose. It's the third season in a row Montana has had numerous injuries to key players.

C'mon, basketball gods. Time to show a lot of love to the Lady Griz in 2019-20!
