6 Foods That Help Fight a Cold
With the weather changing and fall upon, cold season is in full swing. Everyone in my household is sporting a cold right now. Colds do a good job of making us feel miserable. I will do or eat anything I can that helps to ward off a cold.
Here is a list of foods that I’ve found that can help you keep that cold at bay. You might be surprised at how tasty they are.
Cinnamon
This comfort spice can help battle that cold. Enjoy some toast with cinnamon and sugar for breakfast or add a dash of cinnamon to your coffee.
Dark chocolate
Like we need another excuse to eat chocolate? The antioxidants in dark chocolate are tremendous at helping your body get rid of the bad stuff it is exposed to.
Flax seed
I love ground flax seed. It has a slight nutty taste. You can add it almost anything you bake and never taste it. The vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids it contains help to boost your immune system.
Pumpkin seeds
This fall favorite contains zinc which is a warrior at helping to fight off that nasty cold bug. You can enjoy the taste of autumn and get the health benefits too.
Ginger
It’s almost the time of year for gingerbread cookies anyway, so why not start early? Ginger also helps to fight nausea.
Garlic
Cooking with a little extra garlic this time of year helps to keep that cold at bay. Just try not to overdo it or your coworkers and family might not appreciate it.
