34 year-old Earl Perrine appeared in Missoula Justice Court on two counts of felony assault with a weapon, after allegedly trespassing on Deschamps Lane just off Highway 10 east of Missoula, and when confronted by a father and son, stabbed both with a knife during a struggle.

Deputy Missoula County Attorney Mark Handelman asked Judge Landee Holloway for $50,000 bail, since Perrine was already on $100,000 bail for another incident.

"The defendant stabbed a father and a son when they encountered him acting suspiciously at a residence," Handelman said. "Upon arrival of law enforcement, the defendant began to run, so a K-9 was released to help apprehend the defendant. Therefore, we would be requesting a $50,000 bail to run concurrent with bail set in a District Court matter, which is set at $100,000."

The wounds to the victims were not life-threatening, but both did require medical treatment at St. Patrick Hospital.

Judge Landee Holloway set bail for Perrine at $50,000 to run concurrently with his previous $100,000 bail, and he was remanded to the Missoula County Jail. His next court appearence was scheduled for March 20.
